The Five O'Clock Club

With 48 guests at the Royal Oaks Country Club, there were a lot of stories shared from the ARCO days. In addition, many of us remain Advancial members and we shared why we have remained loyal. Christine and Allie represented Advancial, a sponsor of Energy Alumni and the happy hour. Special thanks also to Sharon Hendrix who hosted the event at the ROCC.
Our alumni have been keeping busy. Tahir Bukhari has been volunteering at both the golf course and the science museum. Bill Leslie is enjoying plenty of Pickleball while consulting with Netherland, Sewell & Associates. Jose Bird has been exploring AI and staying open to new opportunities. Randy Brush continues his work at Haas & Cobb Petroleum Consultants.
Gary McKiddy is looking forward to a calmer home mortgage market. Doug Trumbauer has been golfing, collecting wine and working with Kosmos. Greg Ernster is happily retired, spending his time golfing and making memories with his grandkids.
More on who attended, and who is golfing below!
The Out of Towners
Out of town guests included Mike Clonts, Connie and Brad Perdue, Bob Anderson and Greg and Suzanne Ernster. Mike, the founder of the ARCO Alumni website lives in Calgary, Canada. Bob regularly attends the Dallas happy hour from Houston.
Greg and Suzanne were in Dallas babysitting their grandchildren who live in Houston and were in Dallas for a wedding. To their surprise Walt and Barbe Bozeman were also in Dallas babysitting their grandson, so the Ernsters and Bozemans caught up while watching toddlers.
Greg joined ARCO in 1981, and worked in Houston, LA, Jakarta, Dubai and Dallas before joining Santos in Adelaide in 2000. Having spent much of his career outside of the US, Greg and Suzanne returned to Denver in 2018 from Switzerland where they were working for Addax Petroleum.
Mike joined ARCO in 1986, working in Anchorage and Dallas. He and Greg crossed paths in Australia, when they were both working for Santos. Reconnecting after 25 years, the two golfed the morning of the happy hour.
Bob Anderson and Gary McKiddy:
Bob and Gary first met in the early nineties in ARCO’s Internal Audit group, where they quickly built a strong working partnership. They later reunited in ARCO’s International Exploration team and shared memorable assignments, including travel to Mozambique and South America.
Their careers eventually headed in different directions, but they stayed close through calls, texts and the annual ARCO Alumni Happy Hour. When Gary faced a long recovery from COVID in 2021, Bob checked in with him every day for more than six months, a gesture that says a lot about their friendship.
They’ve kept that connection going, including at the recent happy hour shown in this picture.
Mike and Doug first worked together for ARCO in Anchorage. Thirty years later, the ARCO Alumni hapy hour brought them back together for the happy hour and a day on the Las Colinas golf course. Read what Doug is currently up to here.
Some of our regulars were unable to join the fun, but for good reasons!
Diane Camara’s daughter, Stephanie celebrated her marriage November 14. Mike Camara said, “With a house-full of out-of-town guests that week, we won’t have the time dash off to Royal Oaks. It looks like another great Alumni gathering, and we’ll miss catching up with our ARCO family.”
