Members of the community share memories of Eric
Eric Neil Pierson, beloved son, brother, husband, father, and friend to many, left us too soon on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, aged 55 years old.
Below, members of the Energy Alumni community share heartfelt memories of Eric.
Bruce & Susan Dingeman share:
“We first met Eric early in his career at ARCO, and our paths continued to cross, from our time in Houston to more recently here in Anchorage. We’ll always remember Eric as a dear friend, a loving husband to Bobbi, and a wonderful father to Nick and Delaney. His kindness, humor, and strength will be greatly missed by all who knew him.”
Dan & Grace Kruse share:
“Eric was truly one of our best coworkers at ConocoPhillips, and Bobbi and Eric were dear friends to so many, having celebrated the Millennial in year 2000 at our then very young Alaska remote log cabin with close friends.
They also made time to visit us at our expat home in Brisbane while on their multi-year expat assignment in further away beautiful Perth Australia. I will always remember Eric’s upbeat, energetic, funny, creative and fearless professionalism! We will always treasure these wonderful memories shared with Eric and Bobbi!
Mark Stevenson shares:
“I first met Eric and Bobbi in late 1996 when I moved to the US for a position with Arco, and have remained friends since. Our career and social paths have criss-crossed over the years as we shared the ups and downs of an oil industry career. I always appreciated Eric’s professional attitude, energy, technical and commercial skills as we worked together. I certainly learnt a lot from him directly as I came up “the learning curve” of the Prudhoe Bay field!
It has also been so great to see Bobbi and Eric’s full devotion and support of their kids that I’ve seen grow from newborns to young adults now launched on their own journeys.
And some of the fond but diverse memories I have of Eric include flying little airplanes after he obtained his pilots license, skiing at Alyeska (albeit somewhat slowly), float fishing on the Kenai, watching the New Year fireworks in Perth from the balcony of my expat apartment (about which 10 year old Nick indicated he wanted just such an apartment when he grew up), laughing at the stained glass windows of their house in Perth that were meant to be some sort of flowers but which the kids thought were aliens, and numerous BBQ’s and dinners over the years.
Dedicated to family, witty, observational (with an occasional sharp but funny comment!), social, and professional are just a few of the words that come to mind about Eric. I miss him greatly and we shall treasure the memories.”
John & Ineca Hand share:
“My wife Ineca and I had the great fortune to know Eric and Bobbi from our very first days in Anchorage, over 30 years ago. Together with the Kruse family, the Hand and Pierson families formed a tradition of rotating the hosting of Thanksgiving for almost 10 years. We watched our families grow, as well as the friendship between us all.
It was with extreme sadness that Ineca and I learnt of Eric’s illness through a Facetime conversation with Bobbi and Eric last year, shortly after Eric was diagnosed. Both Eric and Bobbi are amazing people, both full of unwavering kindness and an incredible strength, for which both will always be admired.
We had the honor of joining Bobbi and Delaney at Nicholas’ wedding this fall in Michigan. It was an event full of emotional extremes, great joy and pride, yet at the same time a deep sadness. Eric is greatly missed – his friendship, his loyalty, his cheeky smile, and quick wit. He will be forever in our hearts.”

Very sad to hear of Eric’s passing. I (B) met Eric on his EDP. Right away I knew he had IT: super smart, curious, eager to jump into anything and solve problems, and a great person. He was always positive and brought joy to everyone around him. We had the great fortune to run into him in Anchorage in 2024 and it was a thrill for me to see him again. Our condolences to his family and his many, many friends. We will miss him and think about him often.
